Ben Haines

Yarra Valley, Victoria & Adelaide Hills + McLaren Vale, South Australia

Ben Haines' winemaking narrative found its feet in Victoria, where his formative years unfurled amidst the vine-clad landscapes of the Grampians & Yarra Valley regions. It was here that he honed his craft, gracing the cellars of esteemed wineries like Mount Langi Ghiran, Yering Station & Mitchelton, leaving an indelible mark & legacy as head winemaker. His selection of vineyards is a testament to his discerning palate, favouring those imbued with intrigue, charisma, and a profound sense of terroir. With a viticultural journey spanning a quarter-century, Ben's attunement to the vineyard's whispers throughout the growing season is nothing short of reverential.

In the realm of Ben Haines' wines, intensity intertwines with finesse, texture dances with energy & every sip unveils a symphony of evolving flavours & aromas. Eschewing manipulation or intervention, these wines exude a harmonious balance & refined elegance—each sip a transcendent experience, encapsulating the essence of time & place.

Until very recently, Ben's endeavours were rooted in the Yarra Valley, with diversity sought from trusted growers in Grampians & Pyrenees. Nowadays, the Haines clan call the Adelaide Hills home, with an exciting future for their family & wines laid before them. With the fervour of a true vigneron, Ben has begun to turn his vinous vision into reality; of crafting a high-density vineyard sprawled across 2.4 hectares of the undulating quartz-laden soils nestled within the cool climes of the Piccadilly Valley.
The promising future of his eponymous wines, and a bitter-sweet farewell to the beloved Victorian vine material; the initial foundations of the brand. These are the last of Ben Haines' Yarra Valley reflections - and a true delight to imbibe on, they are!!
